Pan-fried Tofu Stuffed with Ground Pork

03/05/2018: Chinese has more than 100 recipes of cooking tofu as a dish. Cooking with tofu is quick to master. Here is one of my favorite recipe that always welcome on our dinner table by family member and guests.

Ingredients:

one or two boxes of hard or medium hard tofu, a package of ground pork, scallions (green onion), pickled cucumber, soy sauce, sesame oil, corn starch.

Instruction:

  1. Cut the tofu center to center on four sides, then corner to corner. Total eight pieces of triangle for each tofu.
  2. drain them really well before hollow them in the center.
  3. Fine diced pickled cucumber.
  4. Mix ground pork with pickled cucumber, soy sauce (or salt and pepper), sesame oil and corn starch as filling.
  5. Stuffed each hole of tofu with the filling.
  6. Put some corn starch to seal the holes.
  7. Put the vegetable oil in the non-stick pan medium heat.
  8. Pan-fried the tofu with meat side facing down first.
  9. Don’t move the tofu until it’s brown at bottom about 2-3 minutes.
  10. Turn tofu to brown all five sides of it.
  11. Mixed corn-starch and water and some soy sauce.
  12. Pour the mixed sauce to the tofu, make sure all pieces are  wrapped with sauce.\
  13. Garnish with scallions at last before taking them out of the pan.

You could use any ground meat, such as turkey or beef. We just like pork more.

Below is a picture of the jars of “pickled cucumber(sliced) in soy sauce” I bought from Chinese supermarket. You could use something else to make the filling meet your taste.
